Demanding bosses. Temper tantrums. A crisis for every day, and a day for every deadline. For David, Hollywood was the perfect place to cultivate his super powers of “getting things done”. He describes one memorable miracle here:
“I once came in to work on a Friday before Labor Day weekend. Not only was it the day right before a three day weekend, but the studio was scheduled to close at 3pm instead of the 6pm norm. The other two people in my department, the VP and paralegal, were both taking this day off (one was out of state).
“So I got into work, checked the voice mail messages, and discovered that the President of one of our production companies was demanding we get a certain Canadian actor into the US to begin shooting the following Tuesday. Suffice to say it was a bit nerve-wracking. Through a set of juggled conference calls, we managed to get the President calmed down, my bosses calmed down, the proper paperwork signed, and the proper individuals contacted in order to get our favorite Canadian actor into the US.
“Shooting started on schedule. And no, I can’t tell you who the actor is. But you know him.”
